Cute little restaurant off the beaten path of 5th avenue! We came here for a late dinner our last night in Playa based off of a recommendation from a local and all of the Yelp reviews. Unfortunately I didn't have much of an appetite (not normal for me when around Mexican food), but the duck tacos are unique and delightful. My husband got the shrimp tacos and ate every last bite! We also got the ceviche to start, which was very good - slightly different than how we expected, but delicious nonetheless.
All in all, very solid dinner spot and super reasonable prices! Next time we are in Playa, I will come hungry :) -

Super cute restaurant on the corner of Calle 34. Blink and you'll miss it! The decor is super cute and you can tell the owners spent a lot of time crafting the look- thatched rood, cement walls, pine tables.
We had A tequila tasting with Tequila Academy and sampled about 5 or 6 different tequilas which was really tasty and great! We had a ton of food as well- black bean tamales, guacamole, quesadillas, and some sort of pumpkin seed dip. Everything was really flavorful and we enjoyed the food. Definitely check this place out! -

This place is super bland, the mole didn't have any interesting flavors to it, and the tacos were so so and the chocolate dessert was not good.
We asked for bottled water and they brought cups and a glass bottle with a cap. We didn't notice their wasn't a seal on the bottle... Now are regretting not checking, we are 2 days in on "Montezuma's revenge" it's one of the worst sickness we've ever had. We narrowed it down and it could have only been this place that we got it from, either the pork, the not sealed water, or the cooks not washing their hands.
Bland food and deathly ill, what a great birthday dinner! -

Woooooow.
We had an excellent dinner here and it was so much fun. We tried:
Guacamole with grasshoppers
Grilled octopus
Shrimp ceviche (with avocado and coconut milk)
Duck tacos (with three-chile sauce)
Cochinita pibil
Everyone oohed and ahhed over the dishes. My favorite was the shrimp ceviche with coconut milk, fresh coconut shavings and avocado. It was excellent.
We laughed over trying grasshoppers. Most liked them, citing flavors of beef jerky.
We had many rounds of Canelita drinks (tequila, pineapple, lime and cinnamon) and local IPA beers (referred to as "eep-ahs" locally). And even a celebratory round of tequila shots for my birthday.
The food was excellent.
Service was too.
And we had an absolutely great time. -

Delicious final meal for my family's vacation. The only reason I'm giving this four stars instead of five is because of how ~s l o w~ the service was. It took about 15 min before we ordered drinks, and then another 20 min before the waiter took our food order, and this was only after I had to specifically ask him to take our order. Not a great start, and our group of four almost left the restaurant, but the food was actually so so worth it.
I recommend ordering a bunch of items and splitting with your group!
Shrimp from Campeche: My mom would not stop raving on how good this was! You definitely need to be a fan of coconut to enjoy this dish, but the flavors blend together really well.
Duck Tacos: My personal favorite! They taste like a sweet pulled pork.
Bone Marrow: Definitely an acquired taste, but they cook this really well and add a thin layer of black beans.
Traditional Tortilla Soup: Goes really well with the blue corn chips they give to you as an appetizer!
Suadero Tacos: Pretty basic, but delicious.
Cochinita Pibil Tacos: The pork was so yummy, and tasted delicious with the complimentary salsas.
